Melbourne’s queer community TV program BENT TV

Studio based production Alphabet Soup is the face of Melbourne’s diverse rainbow community and culture. Part panel discussion, part variety show screens on community TV broadcaster Channel 31 every Sunday night at 10pm.

Totally volunteer produced, the half hour show is currently guided by board members Andrew McNamara & Linzi Kurileff along with Bent TV volunteer Remy Scholten, who lead a team of dedicated volunteers. Now into its second season Alphabet Soup includes interviews with key community figures, performers, artists and festivals, community reports, footage from community events, as well as discussions of key issues concerning the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer community.

BENT TV plays an important role in providing much needed information and education along side other LGBTIQ media outlets to help support the community. From its inception Bent TV has been an outreach for many going through the challenging process of ‘coming out’ and who have been isolated from obtaining much needed resources.

Volunteers are required to help fill key production roles such as, directors, producers, script writers, camera operators, technical assistants, make-up artists, presenters & much much, more. Whether you’re an aspiring journalist or just eager to get involved in television then this is a great opportunity for you. Other volunteer areas include, Board Members, Administration Sales, Marketing and Fundraising.

Community Television not only enriches the lives’ of many of those around us but also keeps you up to date with local issues, events and an avenue for community organisations to get help their message out. Community Television, it’s made for the community, by the community.

BENT TV relies solely on public membership, sponsorships, donations and much appreciated time of volunteers
